Iran Warns Israel of ‘Obliterating War’ If It Launches All-Out war Against Hezbollah

Iran warns Israel of ‘obliterating war’ if it attacks Lebanon.

Iran has threatened Israel with an “obliterating war” if Israel launches a full-scale attack against Hezbollah in Lebanon, according to The New York Times on Saturday.

Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed militant group, have escalated since the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, which resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths and several skirmishes in the weeks following.

The intensifying conflict has led Israeli officials to declare a critical turning point, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warning of potentially “very intense action.” On Saturday, Iran warned that the “Resistance Fronts,” which include Iran and its regional allies, would confront Israel if Lebanon were attacked.

Iran’s US mission to New York issued the warning amid concerns of a broader regional conflict involving Israel and Hezbollah, led by Hassan Nasrallah. Since the start of the Gaza War on October 7, 2023, there have been almost daily gunfire exchanges between the two sides, with the current confrontations getting more intense along with progressively harsher language.

Iran warns Israel about war with Lebanon

Israel’s military had announced that plans for an offensive war with Lebanon had been “approved and validated,” and had also asked America to join them if it led to a full-scale war, to which Hezbollah responded by warning that no part of Israel would be spared in a full-blown conflict.

In a social media post, Iran warns Israel, that Iran’s US mission described Israel’s threats of attacking Lebanon as “psychological warfare” but warned that a full-scale military aggression would lead to an “obliterating war,” with all “Resistance Fronts” fully involved against Israel.

The conflict in Gaza started on October 7, after Hamas militants attacked southern Israel and took Israeli citizens as captives. Although Iran, a supporter of Hamas, praised the attack, it denied its direct involvement.

Alongside Hezbollah’s actions in northern Israel, Iran-backed rebels in Yemen, the Houthis, have repeatedly attacked commercial ships in the Red Sea in solidarity with Palestinians. Iran also supports various other groups in the region.

Regarding a new Houthi-led front, Israeli intelligence agencies have issued a warning. The Yemeni Ansar Allah Resistance Movement is reportedly expanding its scope, according to Israeli authorities.

Iran warns Israel. Iran has not recognized Israel since the 1979 revolution that overturned the US-backed monarchy of Iran. In April, an Israeli airstrike on Iran’s consulate in Damascus killed seven Revolutionary Guards, including two generals, increasing the possibility of a regional war among them.

In response, Iran launched an unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel on April 13–14. Later, Iranian state media reported explosions in Isfahan province, with US media citing American officials who claimed Israel conducted retaliatory strikes against Iran. Tehran, however, downplayed the reported Israeli raid.

The rising tensions between Iran, Israel, and their respective allies highlight the fragile and volatile nature of regional dynamics in the Middle East. As the situation develops, there is still great fear about the possibility of a wider confrontation between both countries.
