Schools Shut: Government Response to Mumbai Rain
As a result of the heavy Mumbai rain, the state government declared a holiday for all schools in Mumbai, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts. Some areas received more than 300 mm of rainfall in just six hours, ending at 7 a.m., causing significant flooding of roads and low-lying regions.

Due to the heavy rain in Mumbai, both houses of the Maharashtra legislature were adjourned, as many members and officials could not reach the Vidhan Bhavan. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assessed the situation by chairing a meeting at the Mantralaya and visiting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) control room.

The IMD has predicted moderate spells of rainfall in Mumbai and its suburbs, with heavy showers expected in isolated places over the next 24 hours. The civic body has urged citizens not to believe in rumors and to contact its control room numbers for emergency assistance. Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani is monitoring the situation from the disaster management control room.
