Social media went shocking recently with circulating reports about former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag and his wife, Aarti Ahlawat, are heading towards separation being together after 20 years of marriage. According to a report by HT City, the couple, who tied the knot in 2004, have been living apart for several months, with divorce reportedly on the cards.
Social Media hints on the Divorce rumors
Speculations picked pace after Sehwag unfollowed Aarti on Instagram. Although he hasn’t deleted older photos with her, his last Instagram post with Aarti dates back to April 2023. More interestingly, Sehwag didn’t also celebrate their 20th marriage anniversary in public on April 2024. Aarti, however, whose account has 178k followers, locked her account as the news did the rounds
Their Childhood Romance
The couple’s relationship traces back to their childhood in the 1980s. Sehwag, then seven, met five-year-old Aarti through family connections, as Sehwag’s cousin was married to Aarti’s aunt. Their friendship blossomed into love, and at the age of 21, Sehwag proposed to Aarti, leading to their grand wedding in 2004.
Together, they have two sons, Aryavir, born in 2007, and Vedant, born in 2010. Aarti kept a low public profile all these years and supported Sehwag through his cricketing career, which included two triple centuries in Test matches and 104 Tests and 251 ODIs for India.

Public Distance Fuels more to Rumors
It was only during the festival that the gap between Sehwag and Aarti was seen. In 2024, Sehwag posted Diwali pictures with his elder son Aryavir and his mother, Krishna, but Aarti and their younger son Vedant were not there. This created more rumors about their distance from each other.
Bond of Sehwag with Aryavir
While the world keeps debating over the relationship of the couple, recently Sehwag’s bond with his son Aryavir was seen. Aryavir played a brilliant knock of 297 runs in a Cooch Behar Trophy match for Delhi and just failed to surpass Sehwag’s career-best score of 319. He jokingly told Aryavir that he had promised him a Ferrari a decade ago if he would surpass his highest score.
No Official Statement out yet
Neither Sehwag nor Aarti has come out in the open regarding their relationship status despite all the rumors. With speculations galore, the fans and well-wishers are left to wait for clarity from the couple.
For now, Sehwag, one of India’s most iconic cricketing legends, and Aarti, his steady companion through the years, continue to be under the spotlight for reasons beyond cricket.
